Obverse description At center, the double-headed eagle emblem of the Bank of Russia is depicted in high relief against a mirror-polished field, its wings displayed and talons spread, rendered in finely detailed frosted finish. The Cyrillic legend ОДИН РУБЛЬ (One Rouble) arcs along the upper portion of the coin, while БАНК РОССИИИ (Bank of Russia) curves along the lower portion, both separated from the central device by a fine beaded inner border. To the lower left of the eagle, the silver fineness mark Ag 900 appears, and to the lower right, the weight indicator 15.55 and the Saint Petersburg Mint monogram (СПМД) are inscribed. The date 1998 Г. is prominently displayed at the bottom of the field, below the legend.
