| Reverse description | The reverse presents a finely detailed high-relief depiction of the gilded angel weathervane that surmounts the spire of the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul within the Peter and Paul Fortress, Saint Petersburg. The winged angelic figure is shown in flowing robes, one arm raised, set against the lower portion of a large Orthodox cross that extends toward the upper field of the coin. The deeply mirrored proof field accentuates the sculptural quality of the design. The Cyrillic inscription САНКТ-ПЕТЕРБУРГ (Saint Petersburg) arcs along the lower right periphery within the beaded border, serving as the sole legend on this face. |
