Reverse description The reverse presents a three-quarter bust portrait of the composer Stanisław Moniuszko facing slightly left, dressed in formal 19th-century attire with a bow tie, rendered in a realistic engraved style against a background of musical manuscript notation. The Cyrillic inscription 'С. Манюшка' curves along the upper portion of the field in an elegant script. The dates '1819–1872' appear in the lower portion of the field, commemorating the composer's birth and death years.

Additional information

Stanisław Moniuszko was born in 1819 in Ubiel, in what is now Belarus, and spent his formative years in Minsk before relocating to Vilnius and eventually Warsaw, where he built his reputation as the father of Polish national opera. Belarus has periodically claimed him as part of its own cultural heritage — a geographically reasonable argument, if a contested one given Polish sensibilities around the composer.

The 2019 issue marks the bicentennial of his birth.
