Additional information

This piece belongs to Russia's long-running series of small silver roubles issued under the "Monuments of Architecture" and related commemorative programs that the Bank of Russia expanded aggressively in the early 2000s. The "Small Ship" in question refers to the botik of Peter the Great — a small English-built sailing boat Peter discovered as a teenager in a storehouse at Izmailovo, which he later credited as the direct inspiration for the Russian navy. He called it the "grandfather of the Russian fleet."

The botik itself survives to this day and is held at the Central Naval Museum in Saint Petersburg.
