Obverse description At centre, the official emblem of the Bank of Russia depicting a double-headed eagle with wings lowered, enclosed within a beaded circle. The semicircular legend «БАНК РОССИИ» (Bank of Russia) arcs below the eagle within the beaded border. Along the outer rim, the denomination «ОДИН РУБЛЬ» (One Rouble) appears at the top, while the lower arc carries, from left to right: the precious metal designation and fineness, the year of issue «2007 г.», and the fine metal content followed by the Saint Petersburg Mint monogram (СПМД).

Reverse description The reverse features a naturalistic depiction of a Ringed Seal (Pusa hispida) resting on a block of ice in the foreground, rendered in fine relief against a textured field suggestive of water and ice. The inscription «КОЛЬЧАТАЯ НЕРПА» (Ringed Seal) arcs along the upper rim in Cyrillic lettering.
