| Reverse description | The reverse features a central reproduction of the illuminated miniature 'The Battle of the Nemiga River' from the Radziwill Chronicle, an early 13th-century literary monument, depicting the decisive military confrontation of 3 March 1067 between the forces of Vseslav Charodei ('the Sorcerer') of Polotsk and the Princes of Kiev, Pereyaslavl, and Chernigov. Below the central illustration, three historic names of the city — МЪНЬСКЪ, МЕНЕСК, and МЕНСК — are inscribed in an undulating arrangement evoking the gentle flow of the Nemiga River. The inscription МIНСК . 950 ГАДОЎ appears in the lower field, commemorating the 950th anniversary of the first written mention of Minsk. |
