| Reverse description | At center, a color reproduction of a fragment from the painting 'Forbidden Zone' (1993) is depicted, one of eleven works comprising the celebrated 'ЧОРНАЯ БЫЛЬ' (Chornaya Byl / Black Past) series painted between 1986 and 1998. This cycle, among Savitsky's most significant achievements, powerfully documents the human tragedy of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster. Below the central image, the artist's name and life dates appear in the field. The inscription М. САВІЦКІ 1922–2010 is positioned along the lower portion of the reverse. |

| Additional information |
Mikhail Savitsky (1922–2010) was among the most decorated Belarusian painters of the Soviet period, and his "Black Past" cycle — completed across several decades — documented his own experience as a survivor of Dachau and Buchenwald. The series is unflinching in ways that made Soviet cultural authorities uncomfortable; some works were exhibited only after considerable delay. This coin belongs to a broader National Bank series honoring Savitsky's artistic output, issued around the centenary of his birth.
