| Additional information |
Issued as part of Belarus's ongoing commemorative circulation series, this rouble marks the Maxim Gorky tank — a Soviet-era monument and popular symbol of World War II memory in the republic. Belarus lost roughly a third of its population during the German occupation, and the war's material legacy, including preserved armor, remains central to official commemorative culture in Minsk.
KM#431 was struck at the Latvian Mint in Rīga, which has produced the bulk of Belarusian commemorative coinage since the National Bank lacked domestic striking capacity.
