| Additional information |
Transnistria's plastic rouble notes — introduced in 2000 — attracted enough international curiosity that the republic began issuing commemorative metal coinage partly to satisfy collector demand from outside its borders. The Kamenka issue is one of several 2014 roubles honoring settlements within the unrecognized state, a territory that has operated outside Moldovan and international legal frameworks since its 1990 declaration of independence following armed conflict in 1992.
