Part of the Soviet Union's nine-coin series issued for the 1992 Barcelona Olympics — a final propaganda flourish from a state that ceased to exist before the Games were held. The coins were struck in 1991 under Gosbank authority, making them among the last commemorative issues produced before the USSR's dissolution in December of that year.
