Additional information

Arkadiy Kuleshov was a Soviet-era Belarusian poet whose reputation rested heavily on his wartime verse, particularly the long poem "Flag of the Brigade," written during World War II while he served at the front. Belarus issued commemorative roubles for a consistent rotation of national cultural figures through the 2000s and 2010s, and Kuleshov — born in 1914 — received his coin on the centenary of his birth. The series was produced in copper-nickel rather than the silver used for earlier issues in similar commemorative programs, a cost-driven decision that became standard for the lower-tier cultural releases after roughly 2010.
