| Obverse description | The obverse is printed in shades of brown, green, red, yellow, and white, with a pale yellow-green guilloche underprint of undulating lines covering approximately four-fifths of the note. The USSR state coat of arms appears in the upper left corner above a cartouche bearing the denomination inscription, with the numeral '1' in a pale yellow cartouche at the top of a white panel to the right; the serial number in red is positioned centrally and to the right of the denomination. A watermark of alternating light and dark five-pointed stars runs across the note. |

The denomination in red is centred in the upper half of an ornamental frame, with the value repeated in 14 languages in a cartouche on a white background in the lower half, and a further cartouche with a green inscription at the foot of the frame. |
