| Obverse description | A crowned king stands full-face within a ship, holding an upright sword in his right hand and a shield bearing the arms of Ghent in his left. On the ship's stern, a banner displays a rampant lion passant to the left, with the arms of Alençon positioned above. The composition follows the traditional Rose Noble (or ryal) type, with the hull of the vessel rendered in detail around the central royal effigy. The surrounding field is enclosed by a beaded or rope border, with the Latin legend distributed around the periphery. |
