Additional information

Qatar hosted the 15th Asian Games in December 2006 — the first Gulf state ever to do so — and issued a commemorative series to mark the occasion. The torch relay that year passed through seventeen countries across Asia before reaching Doha, a route deliberately designed to assert Qatar's position as a bridge between the continent's eastern and western reaches.

KM#36 is one of several pieces in the Qatar 2006 commemorative set, each tied to a different aspect of the Games.
