Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah, the XIV Yang di-Pertuan Agong, holds a distinction unique in Malaysian constitutional history: he served two non-consecutive terms as head of state, the first from 1970 to 1975 and again from 2011 to 2016.
