Issued to mark the 50th anniversary of FELDA — the Federal Land Development Authority — this coin commemorates one of the largest planned resettlement schemes in postcolonial history. Founded in 1956, FELDA relocated hundreds of thousands of rural poor onto newly cleared land, primarily for oil palm and rubber cultivation, transforming Malaysia's demographic and agricultural map over half a century. By 2008, FELDA settlements housed roughly 112,000 settler families across some 850 schemes nationwide.
