Additional information

Karl X Gustav died in February 1660 at just 37, mid-war and mid-negotiation — Swedish diplomats were literally at the table finalizing the Treaty of Oliva when news of his death arrived. This riksdaler was struck specifically to commemorate his funeral, part of a broader Swedish tradition of issuing medallic coinage for royal obsequies that served political as much as memorial purposes.

SM#38 is genuinely scarce. Funeral issues of this type saw limited distribution and were not circulated in any meaningful commercial sense.
