| Obverse description | Armored and laureate half-bust facing right, the right hand bearing a sword raised to the shoulder and the left hand supporting a shield emblazoned with the arms of the Province of Zeeland, all contained within a beaded inner circle. The peripheral legend, terminating with the Middelburg mint mark (castle), runs within a beaded outer circle. The bold, high-relief portrait is characteristic of the hammered piedforts produced for the Zeeland mint in the seventeenth century. |
