Obverse description Central field features a composed, upright heraldic shield displaying the quartered coat of arms of the lords of Batenburg and Bronckhorst, surmounted by two helmets with elaborate lambrequins and crests in the Renaissance mannerist style. The surrounding legend in Latin runs along the coin's periphery, separated by rosette or pellet stops. The overall design reflects the dynastic pretensions of the barony's ruling house, rendered in the hammered technique characteristic of early seventeenth-century Dutch feudal coinage.
