Oman's Central Bank commemorative rials from this period were issued in relatively modest quantities and seldom circulated, making high-grade survivors the norm rather than the exception. KM#148 belongs to a run of silver issues produced around the turn of the millennium, many tied to specific national events or anniversaries under Sultan Qaboos, who ruled continuously from 1970 until his death in January 2020 — the longest-reigning Arab monarch at the time of his passing.
