| Reverse description | A detailed architectural view of Al-Wafi Castle is depicted in the central field, rendered in fine relief with careful attention to the fortification's towers, crenellated battlements, and traditional Omani defensive structures. The castle design is framed by inscriptions in both Arabic and Latin scripts identifying the subject. The date appears in Arabic numerals, with the denomination indicated in the surrounding legend. |

| Additional information |
Issued to commemorate Al-Wafi Castle in the Al-Dakhliyah Governorate, this piece belongs to a sustained commemorative program run by the Central Bank of Oman throughout the 1990s that documented the country's historic fortifications — structures that Qaboos bin Said had made a deliberate priority of restoring as part of a broader national heritage policy following the 1970 coup that deposed his father. Many of Oman's interior forts had fallen into serious disrepair during Said bin Taimur's isolationist rule.
Struck to standard commemorative silver specifications by a contracted European mint, circulation was negligible.
