Reverse description A naturalistic, full-colour depiction of a Frankincense tree (Boswellia sacra) dominates the centre of the field, rendered with vivid green foliage and a warm brown trunk, set against an engraved landscape background showing additional trees in the distance. The bilingual legend 'OMAN WILD LIFE' in Latin script and 'الحياة الفطرية العُمانية' in Arabic curves along the upper arc of the coin. Below the tree, a bilingual caption identifies the subject: 'شجرة اللبان' in Arabic above 'Frankincense Tree' in Latin script. A fine dotted inner border encircles the entire design, consistent with the obverse.

Additional information

Oman's frankincense trade predates its coinage by millennia — Dhofari boswellia trees supplied resin to ancient Egypt, Rome, and the incense routes of southern Arabia long before any central bank existed to commemorate them. The species native to Dhofar, Boswellia sacra, remains commercially harvested today, one of the few such traditions in the Arabian Peninsula that survived the oil economy largely intact.
