| Obverse description | Central field occupied by a bold Nasta'liq calligraphic legend arranged in three lines, reading 'Al-Sultan Baba Khan / Zarb Tehran / 1212', giving the regnal title of Fath Ali Shah, the mint name Tehran, and the AH date. The inscription is enclosed within an inner beaded border forming an oval cartouche, itself surrounded by a wide granular field and an outer beaded border running along the coin's periphery.
