| Obverse description | The obverse is entirely epigraphic in the Persian nastaʿlīq and naskh scripts, presenting a multi-line religious legend filling the entire field without a central device. The inscription, arranged in three horizontal registers across the flan, reads a poetic verse invoking the Twelfth Imam as the rightful lord of time, affirming that gold and silver in the world are given brilliance by the seal of the Imam, the true master of the age (Sahib al-Zaman). Floral and foliate ornamental motifs with dotted clusters embellish the spaces between the lines of script, lending a decorative character typical of early Qajar hammered coinage. The legend flows to the coin's edge without a formal border, consistent with the hand-struck production technique of the period. |
