Obverse description Armored bust of Emperor Ferdinand I facing right, wearing an ornate crown and elaborate plate armor with decorative pauldrons and gorget, rendered in bold relief characteristic of the Hall Mint's hammered coinage. The emperor holds a scepter in his right hand, depicted in a commanding three-quarter pose. A circular beaded border frames the design. The surrounding legend reads FERDI D G ROMA IMP SEMP AVGVST, identifying Ferdinand as Emperor of Rome by the Grace of God.
