Obverse description Central field features a large oak tree with a spreading foliate crown, its trunk rising from the base of the coin and flanked by the denomination mark '1 R' at the lower center. A small circular countermark applied at the center of the tree depicts a running horse or similar animal, surrounded by a legend, serving as the Costa Rican government authorization stamp. The surrounding legend reads 'LABRE CREZCA FECUNDO' in the upper arc, with 'CR · J B · OD · 00 C ·' in the lower arc, all rendered in bold incuse Latin characters within a raised border. The overall design is derived from the host coin's obverse, with the countermark overstruck prominently at center.
