| Obverse description | Central device depicts five volcanic mountain peaks rising from a plain, set within a beaded inner circle, with radiating sunrays emanating from behind the mountains and filling the upper field. The design closely follows the Central American federation heraldic tradition. The surrounding legend reads in Latin characters along the periphery, separated by bullet stops, with a plain raised rim enclosing the entire composition. The overall style is characteristic of the primitive engraving technique employed at the Tegucigalpa mint during the provisional coinage period. |
