Obverse description Central field features the cursive monogram of insurgent commander José Francisco Osorno, rendered in an intertwined script cipher. Below the monogram, the place name ZACATLAN is inscribed in large cursive lettering across the field, followed by the date 1813 in the lower portion. The design is primitively executed, consistent with emergency insurgent coinage struck under wartime conditions. The overall appearance reflects the rudimentary casting techniques employed by the Zacatlán insurgent mint.
