Obverse description National arms of the Mexican Republic featuring the distinctive Profile eagle, employed exclusively on Real coinage struck between 1823 and 1825 during the early republican period. The eagle is depicted in profile, perched on a cactus growing from a rock amid water, with a serpent in its beak. The design is surrounded by a circular legend reading REPUBLICA MEXICANA. The Profile eagle type is historically significant as a transitional design unique to this brief early republican series.
