| Obverse description | Central shield-shaped coat of arms of Guatemala, depicting three volcanoes beneath a radiant sun, with the independence date '15 DE SET. D. 1821' inscribed on a tablet within the lower compartment of the shield. The arms are flanked by laurel branches and surmounted by a quetzal bird perched atop a scroll. The circular legend 'REPUBLICA DE GUATEM.' runs along the upper periphery in Latin script, interrupted by the shield at the base. |
