The partial Latin legend ET INDIARVM REX, denoting Philip II's sovereignty over the Indies, is visible along the rim, though characteristically incomplete due to the flan limitations of the macuquina production method. The overall strike exhibits the bold, irregular relief typical of late sixteenth-century Spanish colonial hammered coinage. |
