Reverse description The central device consists of a radiant sun with alternating straight and wavy rays emanating from a circular disc bearing a stylized human face in relief, a motif derived from the Inca sun symbol widely used on early Argentine coinage. The sun occupies the majority of the field, with the surrounding legend CONFEDERADA J.P.P. — denoting the confederation affiliation and the assayer's initials — disposed around the periphery in Latin script. The die workmanship is characteristic of provincial Argentine minting of the 1840s, with bold but irregular striking.
