| Reverse description | Two crowned Pillars of Hercules flanking waves, representing the Strait of Gibraltar, with the mintmark of Lima (L) and the denomination mark visible in the field. The legend PLVS VLTRA is distributed between and around the pillars, a device emblematic of Spanish colonial coinage of the Habsburg period. The strike is characteristic of hammered cob coinage, resulting in a somewhat irregular impression on an uneven flan. A partial outer legend runs along the border, partially off-flan as expected for this issue type. |
