Obverse description Rectangular punched countermark of the city of Valdivia applied to the host coin's obverse, bearing the abbreviated Latin legend APDLVA (Audiencia Provincia de la Very Alta) arranged in two horizontal lines within a rectangular cartouche. The countermark is boldly impressed into the field of the underlying coin, with the surrounding surface of the host coin remaining partially visible. The punch exhibits a distinctive architectural or monogram-style design surmounting the lettering.
