| Obverse description | Draped and laureate bust of Charles IV facing right, occupying the central field. The king's effigy is rendered in the neoclassical style typical of the Spanish colonial milled coinage. A continuous Latin legend encircles the bust, with the date placed in the lower exergue area. The portrait follows the standardized royal effigy design introduced across the Spanish colonial mints during the reign of Charles IV. |

| Reverse description | The crowned Bourbon coat of arms displayed centrally between the two Pillars of Hercules, each pillar surmounted by a crown and wrapped with a banner bearing the motto 'PLUS ULTRA'. The mint mark (PTS monogram for Potosí) appears to the left of the shield, with the assayers' initials positioned at upper left. The denomination mark '1R' is visible within the legend, which encircles the entire design. The peripheral Latin legend identifies the sovereign as King of Spain and the Indies. |
