Obverse description Crowned bust of Charles I (Holy Roman Emperor Charles V) facing left, with long flowing hair and draped shoulders, rendered in the late Gothic hammered style. The effigy is set within a beaded inner circle. The peripheral legend in Latin reads CAROLVS REX ARAGON3, interrupted by the bust, with a cross or stop mark visible in the field. The overall style is characteristic of Aragonese crown coinage of the early sixteenth century.
