Reverse description Central crowned shield of the Spanish royal arms, quartered with castles and lions, with a small escutcheon at fess point. Flanking the shield on either side stand the Pillars of Hercules, each surmounted by a crown and entwined with a banner. The denomination 1R and the assayers' initials FM appear to the left of the shield, while the mint mark Mo is positioned at lower left. The surrounding legend reads HISPAN ET IND REX, separated by ornamental dots and enclosed within a beaded border.
