Obverse description Draped laureate bust of King Carlos IV facing right, with hair tied in a ribbon at the nape, occupying the central field. The circular legend CAROLUS · IIII · DEI · GRATIA · reads around the periphery, interrupted at the base by the mint date. The portrait follows the standard neo-classical style adopted for Spanish colonial coinage of the period, with fine detailing on the drapery and laurel wreath. A toothed border (grenetis) frames the entire design.
