Obverse description Laureate and draped bust of King Carlos III facing right, rendered in the neoclassical portrait style characteristic of late 18th-century Spanish colonial coinage. The king's hair is tied at the back with a ribbon, and his armored or draped shoulder is visible at the truncation. The peripheral legend reads CAROLUS III DEI GRATIA, separated by ornamental dots, with the date appearing at the base of the bust below the truncation. The entire design is contained within a plain inner border, itself enclosed by a finely milled outer rim.
