| Obverse description | Central design features the Guatemalan coat of arms comprising two crossed rifles and two crossed swords arranged diagonally behind a scroll inscribed with the independence declaration date, surmounted by a quetzal bird perched atop the scroll, all flanked by laurel branches tied at the base. The legend LIBERTAD 15 DE SEPTIEMBRE DE 1821 appears on the scroll, referencing Guatemalan independence. The silver fineness and date are inscribed in the lower exergue as 0.900 D. 1879. The entire design is contained within a finely reeded border. |
