| Additional information |
Part of the South African Mint's ongoing Natura series, which launched in 1994 as one of the first gold bullion programs globally to dedicate itself exclusively to African wildlife subjects rather than a single recurring motif. The Southern Double-collared Sunbird issue sits within a subset of the series focused on smaller, less commercially obvious fauna — a deliberate move away from the Big Five subjects that dominated early runs and competing issues.
Mintages for individual Natura pieces from this period were strictly limited, and secondary market availability has historically been thin outside South Africa.
