| Obverse description | Central design features a finely detailed King Protea (Protea cynaroides), the national flower of South Africa, rendered in high relief with its characteristic layered petals and prominent central dome fully visible. The legend SOUTH AFRICA curves along the upper periphery in raised Latin lettering, while the date 2007 appears in the lower field. The engraver's initials ALS are incused at the base of the floral stem. The mirrored proof field provides strong contrast against the frosted relief of the bloom. |
