Reverse description The reverse depicts a frontal standing figure of Saint Peter, vested in pontifical robes and holding the keys of Heaven, set within the central field of the irregularly shaped flan. The figure is rendered in the crude, flat relief characteristic of hammered billon coinage of the Ancona mint. The peripheral legend * S * PETRVS * ANCONA *, separated by decorative pellets, encircles the design within a beaded border, identifying both the patron saint and the issuing city.
