Obverse description Central field displays the papal arms of Pope Paul III — a shield bearing the Farnese family device of six fleurs-de-lis arranged in pale — surmounted by the papal tiara and crossed keys. Three pellets appear at the apex of the tiara, identifying this as the variety with three-point topping. The shield is flanked by the tied papal key bundles. A beaded inner border frames the composition, with the Latin legend distributed around the periphery.

Reverse description Full-length standing figure of Saint Peter in the field, depicted frontally with a halo, wearing episcopal vestments. He holds a book in his left hand and raises the papal keys in his right hand. The saint stands in a hieratic, symmetrical pose characteristic of hammered Papal billon coinage of the period. A beaded border encircles the design, with the Latin legend naming the saint and the mint city disposed around the periphery.
