Obverse description Central device comprising the papal tiara surmounting the crossed keys of Saint Peter, rendered in relief within a decorative cartouche. The tiara is depicted with three tiers, and the crossed keys — one gold, one silver — are tied with a cord below. A partial circular Latin legend runs along the coin's periphery, with the milled border encircling the entire design. The composition is characteristic of Papal States coinage of the early eighteenth century, executed in a bold, slightly crude provincial style consistent with the Gubbio mint.
