Reverse description The reverse displays the mint name FERRARA split across two lines as FER / RARA, inscribed within an ornate baroque cartouche or shield-shaped frame, surmounted by the papal tiara and crossed keys. The cartouche is enclosed by foliate or laurel branch ornaments. A beaded border runs along the inner rim of the irregularly shaped flan. The design is simple yet authoritative, consistent with the minor copper denominations struck at Ferrara for Pope Benedict XIV.
