Ticino's cantonal coinage authority was short-lived. The canton struck its own silver fractions only between 1813 and 1835, after which Federal pressure toward monetary unification gradually rendered independent cantonal issues obsolete — the Helvetic monetary convention of 1825 had already begun constraining what individual cantons could legitimately put into circulation. This 1835 piece is the final year of the type.
