| Obverse description | Armored and crowned bust of Philip II of Spain facing right, depicted with a short beard and wearing an elaborately detailed suit of armor with pauldron and gorget visible at the truncation. The effigy is rendered in a bold, high-relief hammered style characteristic of late 16th-century Milanese goldsmithing. A radiate crown surmounts the head. The Latin legend curves around the periphery of the flan, partially divided by the bust. |
