Obverse description Bust of Pope Alexander VIII facing right, depicted in high relief with naturalistic portrait features characteristic of late Baroque papal coinage. The pontiff wears the camauro cap and an elaborately embroidered papal cope, with fine detail in the drapery folds. The engraver's signature HAMERANVS appears at the base of the bust. The surrounding Latin legend reads ALEXANDER VIII PONT M A I, denoting his pontifical title and regnal year. The whole is contained within a beaded border.
