Obverse description Central field bears a tughra-style Arabic inscription within a dotted inner circle, reading the titles and name of Husayn ibn Ali, Sharif and King of the Hejaz. Surrounding Arabic legends fill the outer field, proclaiming his sovereignty and religious authority. The date in Eastern Arabic numerals (١٣٣٤) appears in the lower portion of the outer legend. The numeral ٨ (8), denoting the regnal year, is prominently displayed at the base of the coin below the inner dotted border. The overall design follows the Ottoman calligraphic tradition, with densely packed script covering nearly the entire coin surface.
